On September 22, 2003 at 00:45 local time (04:45 UTC), a magnitude 6.4 Mw earthquake occurred close the northern coast of the Dominican Republic.[1] Its epicenter was located at , near the town of Luperon, Puerto Plata and 40 miles (64 km) north the city of Santiago de los Caballeros.[2]. This earthquake could also be felt in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. A research indicated that it was one of a series of westward-propagating earthquakes along the boundary between the North American Plate and the Caribbean Plate.[3]
